Description: This course teaches a framework for creating a trusting and collaborative work environment. Participants learn a collaborative model, get the opportunity to practice skills that will enhance collaboration both internally and externally with partners and stakeholders. Radical Collaboration has produced strong research-based results that are immediately useful and quickly implemented.
Outcomes: Learn the concepts and five crucial skills outlined in “Radical Collaboration: Five Essential Skills to Overcome Defensiveness and Build Successful Relationships” by Jim Tamm and Ron Luyet. These skills are not only learnable but also highly practicable, and they can positively impact any organization in a relatively short period. This three-day journey will equip participants with the five essential skills for overcoming defensiveness and building successful relationships.
The Five Essential Skills:
1. Collaborative Intention: We will explore the power of committing to mutual success in working relationships.
2. Openness: Creating an open climate where individuals feel safe discussing concerns and addressing complex issues directly.
3. Self-Accountability: Taking responsibility for one’s actions, choices, and the consequences that arise from them.
4. Self-Awareness and Awareness of Others: Delve into deep self-knowledge and explore interpersonal issues while understanding the concerns, intentions, and motivations of others.
5. Interest Based Problem Solving and Negotiating: Learn problem-solving methods that foster a cooperative atmosphere and avoid internal competition within the organization.
Radical Collaboration Approach: This workshop adopts an experiential and hands-on approach, directly connecting with your working relationships. While we will have a few brief lectures, most of your learning will come from engaging in exercises, case simulations, participant interactions, psychometric instruments, and skillful debriefing sessions. We introduce concepts and immediately engage with them, applying them to real-life situations. For example, you will explore the “Green Zone” collaborative mindset, contrasting it with adversarial and ineffective mindsets often prevalent in organizations.
